On flight to Kota Kinabalu again...

This is my third trip to KK this month alone. Hmmm... Come to think of it, could be fourth trip in 2 months period. Yup yup... Twice on MAS and twice again on AirAsia. Surely those who have flown with AirAsia would agree with me that the Low Cost Carrier Terminal, as they call it, is more like a high class Bus Terminal. Just as their motto says it, Now Everyone Can Fly, truly u can find almost all types of people at their Terminal. Kind of good place to just people watch...

Sure there is a big difference with being in KLIA and LCCT... Still the walk path to the plane gave me an (illegal) opportunity to get this shot.

As I was saying... This being my third trip to KK this month. Where two of it is for work purpose. Now the more interesting trip was to attend the Garden Wedding of Chee Heng and Joveyn. Which was held at Sutera Harbour Resorts. Finally after all the hype I've been hearing and photos of this place, finally I get to stay there and I stayed there for free. You see, Chee Heng not only paid for our rooms in Sutera Harbour but he also paid for our flight tickets on MAS.

Why ?? All cause we are part of his Heng tai team aka Pink Tie... aka Pinn Tai. Well kind of uniform lor. He bought pink ties for all of us.

That photo was a screen capture extracted from works by Mayad Studios from the Philippines. Who I was later told to be the few best wedding videographers in the world. But I guess it is true, since they were paid platinum premium price for their works.

Now... A trip with all guys... There is bound to be loads of fun and more important food !!! The 2 main makan places that I will never forget is Little Italy and Wan Wan. Yup... People might think crazy come KK and eat Italian food. But as hell, they are good ! Was told that Little Italy is listed or featured on Lonely Planet. Which is the reason why half of the customers are kwai lous.

Took me awhile to understand the menu actually. Thankfully Yoke, who played host for this KK trip, ordered everything for us.

This place is really that damn good ! Just last week I went back there again for me dinner.

I'm hoping that you people are reading until this point... For the next place worth to recommend is Wan Wan. This place is totally and completely all fish !

If you look closely on the menu, both left and right are filled with advertisement. I kid u not ! This really shows how popular this place is. I wonder if I get the chance to whack another 2 bowls of their fish fillet and fish cake, drowned in their version of spicy tom yum soup.

Too bad they are closed by 2pm, if not mistaken. Which only means that I can't go there for dinner later when I land in KK.

There is just so much more to KK that is yet to explore, especially the food division. I so wanna try their famous pork noodles. Maybe I should call Yoke for directions. Right now... I've got no clue of what to eat.

Think I'll end this blog posting with the view over breakfast at Sutera Harbour. Oh... I do need to add that there are many tourists from Japan and Korea, in this hotel. Probably in KK....

Working trip to Kota Kinabalu

It truly been a long while since there been any posting. Busy ? Somewhat... Life been great especially with the new Ford Focus TDCi, which is a whole story on it's own.

I am currently on flight to Kota Kinabalu, all for just a meeting at 9am tomorrow morning. Which is not even my project to handle but let's not go there.

Anyhow... Looking forward to a great nite in KK. Meeting up with another Focus kaki...

As for now... Dinner is served.

A beautiful beginning...

This is gonna be another non-ride blog posting, cause I'm currently some thousand feet above sea level. En route to Hong Kong... This has been planned trip with the guys, for real coz bottomline this is a Bachelor Party trip. Hong Kong is only transit... Our main destination is to Shenzhen.

Ironically... My mind is so filled with thoughts back home, doesn't help that I've just started a new relationship. Oh well what can I say ? I don't know if I should be blogging this but have just be hopelessly silly happy.

We actually had a first road trip together to Ipoh. Rather impromptu but we managed to find time, in between our more busy schedule. Things are coming along fine, she had been a wonderful girlfriend.

Crap la... I'm going through a mind block. Don't know what to write. Tired as hell... Too many late nite the past week, travelling for work and spending time with dear Amber. Oh well... Hope to nap awhile before my flight lands.

Weekend in Miri

Where do I start ?? I was sent to Brunei actually for work, site visit for an upcoming tender. Landed in Brunei on Tuesday evening and then it was work work work for the next 2 days. As was duely warned Bandar is pretty much a quiet town. And it truly lived up to it's expectation. So pretty much isn't anything to talk about ya...

Well since I was in Brunei, decided to make a trip to Miri. Thankfully a dear friend Yoke is working there and it coincide with the long Good Friday and Easter, so the perfect long weekend holiday.

Before we left Brunei, first was Japanese dinner. Note that I'm not actually much of a Jap food lover. But still seafood being fresh there, so why not la. Plus the pic that Kok Jeong took of the sashimi there. So it is a must try...

Excapde sushi... We sat at the err... Counter with the literally train sushi. Yeah woii.. I was so fasinated with toy train carrying the sushi dishes. Unlike the converyor belt that we have here in Malaysia.

Then came our salmon sashimi... Like wow, checkout those chunky cuts.

As I said I am not a jap food lover but damn those salmon sashimi was good ! Fresh like hot buns out from the oven. So good that we had 2 servings of those. Of course there were other food as well... We were stuffed. All ready for the remaining drive to Miri.

The next 3 nights and 3 days was truly a good experience. Food was great... Of course all different kind of food. Nasi lalapan was truly an experience, sambal belacan with ulam, white rice and I chose ikan tengiri. Of course gotto eat with hands le and darn the smell of the belacan lingers on the finger for, well... 2 days. There were many other food of course... All well planned out by Yoke. Thanks man...

It has truly been a long while since I went out partying like totally all out. All 3 nites in Miri was totally for partying. With work and not much of kaki to go. Mostly just too tired out from work. Being away gives all the right reason to party !

First nite was totally smashing... Quite a big group of guys. Not even sure who is who. As much as I wanted to control my alcohol intake, but just layan lor. First shit was ok. Second also still steady... Third was double shots in one. Which killed me la. Embarassing puke like twice. Then started to be woozzy and sleepy. No letting it take over I forced myself to the dance floor and do what I thought was dancing. Layan la the live band was kind ok and the DJ mix was pumping. Even some head banging with the band. And was easily remembered for my hairband. Still I was totally stoned on the first nite, could barely survived through the supper session. But it was ok, the guys all talking so much crap. Good laughs...

Best was on the last nite... The next change band was playing 1 set as a preview. So last nite I managed to catch 2 bands playing back to back. And the place (Cheerie Berries) was packed ! Which is a good thing... cuci mata. And stand there look pretty. Shy mar me... Hahahaha ! I should probably learn to mix around, apparently ppl in Miri are much more friendlier. But it was alrite I guess... Nothing gain nothing lost.

Damn regret I didn't bring my camera gears to Miri. Would have gotten loads of contacts and totally amazing pic for sure. Plus it is a good tool to break the ice. Being the band's last performance. Possibly just possibly could have gotten some photo shoots opportunity.

Speaking of which....... Went up to Canada Hill, historically the first oil rig in Miri. A beautiful sunset... Without my camera. So this is what I managed to capture.

Just imagine this to be a great place for a strobist model photo shoot. But need to find the model la. Next trip for sure... Please let there be more work trips to Brunei.

Another great view to end my trip... Yoke brought lunch at Piasau Boat Club - hope I got the name right. Dine with the straight view of the beach and the rustling sea breeze...

I truly leave Miri with a heavy heart. Such a laid back place and yet with so many things happening at the same time. Endless thanks to Yoke for hosting me the whole weekend and new found friend, Julian. I'll surely be back and party it out all night...

Mind blasted and twisted by brute torque power

I know I know... I should have blogged about the past 2 rides I had over the past 2 weekends. But it has really been a hectic week for me, sleeping at 4am for like 3 nite in a row. Totally tired out... But hey... Work work work aside. The previous weekend had kind of reunion ride with the FAKAWI group. Which was a good meet up with the old kaki kayuh. Another thing unique is that Cycling Asia was covering the ride, kind of doing a write up for FAKAWI. I wonder if there will be any pic of me in the mag ? But hey some cam whore pics...

After ride... Mud bath and sweat soaked.

So this weekend office organized a Family Gathering in FRIM. Nothing to really shout about. It was a ride just Saiful and me, pushed thru the Dream Trail. Pathetic kan... Used to clear those technical sections but now no balls liow.

But the main highlight of my weekend was the car hunting window shopping Sunday. After a craving satisfied Japanese lunch at Rakuzen, with Shannon. After a short break back in Subang Hse to catch the start of the F1 race in Albert Park.

Together with Shannon, too bad Bernard could join, we first went to Mazda showroom in Glenmarie. Which i think is totally fuck up. Coz really the sales guy no doubt layan la but then like as if he is not happy to be working. Didn't help that couldn't test drive the Mazda 3, was start the car also cannot. Macam double standard service la ni...

Then we went to Hyundai coz Shannon wanted to see the new Sonata. But not in the showroom yet... Still the i30 was eye catching ! With a 2.0 power horse but a bit shabby interior, much like proton feel.
Moving on next to Peugeot showroom. Just to see what the 307 turbo has to offer. Anyway I wasn't too keen, just give it a look see. As like the next car.... But like I said, no one layan us cause there was another customer was there with the family. More potential buyer lor.

Now............. Check this out.

Sweet racing stripes... But does it really deserves it ???

Sat inside the car... Then the elderly sales lady immediate asked if I wanted a test drive, so Hell Yeah ! The Ford showroom along Federal Highway is like socmuch more relax...

Test drive... Slowly reverse my way out. Together with another potential buyer, he wanted to feel how comfy it was sitting behind. So car full...

Exiting the showroom main gate. Floor the pedal and damn ! Unexpected wheel spin sialz ! Ok ok... Recompose and reallign the car with the straight clear road ahead. Apa lagi with slight rolling start, put the pedal to the metal... Fuu yoh ! The surge and the turbo kicked in immediately ! Hey... 320Nm worth of brute torque kicking in at 1800rpm ! Shifting in to S mode, to play with the "manual" double clutch 6 speed gears. Instantly felt the 1sec lag in the gear change but it was ok when just running in Sports mode.

Was truly great kept flooring the pedal, to get the turbo surge. But it was more of a straight line speed test. Wasn't much turns and corners for me to test the handling. But Shannon sitting behind said felt a lil body roll. A lil is good enough for me... Nothing some strut bars can't help.

By far it was the best car test drive I ever had.... Reasonably priced. And I think I'll save more than half in fuel expenses. A full tank can stretch for 900km and that's urban and extra urban driving. So I see it going 1000km on a full tank.

I now stand corrected and understand why my uncle kept pushing me to get a diesel powered car. Really powerful low end range and rpm redline at 5000. Cukup la tu since max torque output at 1800rpm.

White is just right. The racing stripe is more obvious and for good reasons...

Damn... Still can't forget the ride... Wanna test drive it again, test out the handling and comfort.

Can't help it, but I've just gotto blog / post this shot... Why ? Just cause this shot took no longer than 30 seconds to achieve. To begin with I wasn't involved at all with this studio session. I finished my session earlier, went for lunch and then just dropped by to look - see - look - see. And the more I see the more I likey...

With permission and invitation from the organizers, I was allowed to steal a few shots. Which this happens to be the FIRST shot and the only SHOT that worked !

I then learn that it pays to just sit back and observe... Then took out my camera, snap boom bang ! That's all...

I do need to work on posing the model though... I tried to direct her here and there, but doesn't seem to work. I need new ideas...
That is the GOOD thing about working with experienced models, little effort is put into directing the poses. So I can concentrate more in the actual shooting.

Then again.... what do I know ? I'm just pedaling my way through studio photography...

Actually hor... Have to admit that it been a long time since I went on a shopping spree. An actual outing that I enjoy a good shopping therapy. Crazy as it sounds, I do love shopping. Don't mind the endless walks into all possible shops. Honestly... Really nice to dress someone up and make them look good, and I mean good.
Which I've done before and succeeded. But that's another story... I do wonder how she is doing, been a long time I met her. Hope she is getting on fine, after what she been through, she deserved so much better.

Oh well... It was a nice short window shopping after a simple dinner. I am just blogging for the sake of posting. I'm actually brain dead. So I best stop now...

I'm actually due for a trip to Kuantan at 5am, a meeting at 10am. Thank goodness I'm not driving so I've decided to stay awake so that I don't over sleep and gonna be sleeping the whole drive to Kuantan.
Which I should be sleeping cause I'm actually falling sick. The signs of sore throat, cough and flam. But hey... I don't know what am I doing actually.

Let's see... I'm brain dead now, not sure what else to write. And I think it is freaky to be blogging your life on the Internet.

My bed is calling... Silk comforter, a precious gift from my mom.

Rides again

This posting should have been done long time ago, which actually it was done, but then I didn't save and then exit. And all gone la. Now I know lor, 1st time using blog app with iPhone mar...

Last weekend was a long weekend... Had Friday off, good thing bout being in Malaysia, many public holidays. Took the chance to start riding again. Damn as hell I'm so out of shape thus the decision to start riding again.

And riding I did start back, together with my colleague and his wife. As always FRIM is always good for starters. So we arranged to meet at 730am, didn't they were late, the ride matters. We started the scenic route, Bukit Hari trail if I'm not mistaken. Hey it has been almost 2 years since I actively ride... It was a test of my stamina.

I guess before I proceed on with the short ride blog, should tell bout the preparation the nite before. Spent nite with mama mia DVD playing, changing tubes and tires. Was just a tiring ordeal actually... Been awhile mar... Feeling was great prepare all my stuffs the nite before.

Back to the ride...

Headed upto the trail... I took the lead. Didn't quite waited for them cause I thought that they were fast mar. Just go lor, as much as my feet can pedal, working hard pushing my 100kg weight uphill. Ok la... Still can pace myself uphill then again the trail is dubbed as a highway. Hehehe... So yeah... I did take a break, to wait for them. In which....

It feels damn good hearing the zing from the 24 engagement Tank Lights hubs and the ling long from the bear bell. Let's not forget the clean air. The sweat soaked tiredness and a certain numbness - priceless.

Little did I know...

Coming the a downhill section of the trail, bit of the rocky part, try la... Bomb only downhill. Felt the tail was flying everywhere, rear tire too much pressure. It was bouncing everywhere... Next thought that came across my mind was damn don't let the tire blow. So I stopped and pppsssssssssssrttttt... I've got a flat !
Bah ! Luckily I've got spare tubes. Should have brought more tubes, as I was done, 2 rider chicks came along. 1 of them had a flat... Pretty hardcore rider chicks.. And I mean pretty...

There after it was pretty standard by the books. It was a test of nerve actually going downhill again. Single track so no worries lor... But still need to build up guts again. End of it a good sweat out ride.

That is not the end of the weekend ride.

On Sunday morning, another ride... With my all time kaki, Keat. This time decided to take the Rover trail, more scenic route. With joggers and walkers on the same trail, a bit tricky at certain sections.

But... The best part... It was Crap goin uphill. Damn as hell didn't make it all the way. Felt all flat out dead tired... Really gave up. Stopped to rest at the end of Dream Trail, konon la macam just finish...
Damn long lor rest there, my legs were on the verge of getting cramp. Survived la... The rest of the trail felt endless...

That's it la !!! 2 things was then confirmed. First we were heading to wann tann minn for sure. And that I'm damn out of shape. So I've decided to ride more... Now that photography has taken a slow slow pace. Bah ! Another disappointment... But that's another story ain't it.

This weekend... No ride. Couldn't wake up, was working till 4am - for real ! So another weekend missed. Thinking now if I should ride after work tomolo. Reverse up to FRIM sg buloh trail... Sigh... Decide later. Now to enjoy the rest of my evening. I've got The Godfather III playing on and just finish my cup of Bailey's.

That's all... Got a few more things I wanna blog about. Time time and time... Need to steal more time...

Company Trip 2009 to China

Well... in December 2009... I had a trip to China (Hangzhou - Suzhou - Shanghai), 6D4N. As you know la, say only 6Days - but then 2 days already lost cause of traveling.
Every year company sure have 1 oversea trip, sadly now with the large amount of colleagues, budget is pretty much limited. That's why it is usually limited to destinations that Air Asia flies to, or rather ASIAN destinations that Air Asia flies to. But anyhow... something is better than nothing... At least for sure my passport will have 1 stamp every year.

As for the trip... I am only looking forward to the days in Shanghai, having friends who are or have worked there, been hearing good reviews of the place. I mean I was in the "committee" helping to organize this trip, wasn't too bothered about the trip itinerary. Saw that had 2 nights in Shanghai and I was happy enough liow.

But little did I know, that I would have been rather disappointed with the trip...

Lets not even mention the boring places we went in Hangzhou and Suzhou.... Don't get me wrong, it is really not that bad. Just that I am not a nature person, in the sense that I am not really into landscape. I prefer the metropolitan type of places. Buildings... neon lights... people... pretty girls.. Of course man ! All the hype about PRC girls here and there... which in all honesty, didn't really saw any that took my breathe away. Disappointing huh...

So I have to mention about the silk factory which was in the tour... Long story short, there was a Fashion Show schedule. Went and checked out the stage, all good lightings... long runway... Great set up, what more potential PRC models wor !
When the show started... rite... music blasting... lights ? What lights ? plain boring lights... like just turned on the fluorescent tube only. Models ? Oh my goodness... Cannot even see wann... Fine looks memang all auntie, nevermind ! Body pun don't have ! I stopped shooting half way, and just dropped my camera.... like WTF ? You call these pretty PRC girls ? Oh the disappointment !

There were other bad hiccups... Don't really feel like dwelling into it... Like bringing us to this con ass medicine hall. Supposedly free foot massage... but then later, by checking your pulse.. They will give you the most terminally ill fake deduction. Basically they are just targeting a quick fast and hard sale ! Why not ? Not like you'll come back again... And prescription goes to about RM4k to RM8k. WTF woii ! ! Obviously looking at my face, the no money to squeeze face, none approached me.

Just thought I share the slide show I made from the trip... From there, can see la... with Muslim and Sikh colleagues, food was never a highlight of the trip. No pork... Either than the suppers we had after hours. Which is no doubt satisfyingly good...

Arrr... I did managed to meet up with Karl, who is working there for 2 years liow. Met up also kind of late. But hey... wanted to see what night life Shanghai has to offer. But sighz... on the way out of the hotel, bumped into boss at the lobby. Said that he wanna follow, cause we said we were just going for beers. Me and my roommate, we were looking for something more interesting - wanted to hit the clubs ! But alas... spoil plan ! No matter... a few beers with the girls... and then called it a nite... Practically the end of the China trip.

Vouch to go back to Shanghai again... on my own personal trip... when the budget permits...

some alone time

Time spent alone... Is a time well spent. That's what i keep telling myself. But is it really nice to be alone ? Just a bit of a dilemma period i guess... Right now, i'm sitting at The Bakers, just finish my sandwich dinner. Enjoying this horrible coffee-waiting for Keat. We are supposed to go ikea shopping. Our hse project is taking a bit of a delay :(

Back to the dilemma... The past long Christmas weekend, been going out, with this girl from Salsa class. More like she teman me out, coz we go out with my friends... Out in groups, not like a 1-to-1 date la. To me, it is like out with a normal friends mar...

But... I think she is taking it the wrong way. I mean, there is nothing wrong with her... Nice lady (cause she is elder than me), kind of a simple girl next door type of girl. How should i put it ? To me, it was just normal going out with friend. I think she takes it as if we are dating. Cause her words and actions clearly shows it...

So..... Then i'm now asking myself, am i not wanting a relationship or am i just not wanting a relationship with her ? Still can't really answer tau question. Probably i've been bit too comfortable being single ? What's wrong with going out and have no strings attached...

Her signs are strong... But i control myself and not being too physical with her. Not saying that i wanna sleep with her la. But i draw a border, dun get too overly physical, respect mar... No guys... She is not throwing herself onto me. Don't think she's like those cheap type of girl...

Confusing huh... I enjoy her company, out for dinner and movie. Believe, it has been te longest time since i last went to the cinema. Now... How am i to put it to her in the nicest most gentlemen way that i'm not looking for a relationship just yet... Pros and cons aside, still don't feel like commiting myself. So much more for me to do and think about...

Alrite... Keat is here... Time to finish up this horrible coffee and start shopping. Think bout this dilemma later. Meeting my dear Kenix later for a cuppa at Starbucks...

Many many many moons ago... made this photo shoot trip to Sekinchan, as I always been wanting to know what it is like there. There have been so many photo shoots done. Vast greens of paddy fields, that should provide a background for a portraiture shoot.

Didn't really helped that the nite before the shoot, I had a all niter with 3 other photogs. It was a chill out relaxing lepak TCSS. Yeah I think I remember now... Went down to Low Yat to buy myself a new CF card.. SanDisk Extreme 60MB/s - 8GB. Then Alvin brought us (Jayhan and me), for some real authentic Thai food. Where the waitress tried to take our order in Thai. Good shitz... HOT and sa-picy as hell ! Then the whole TCSS lepaking session lasted till like 4am.

Anyhow... totally stoned for the photo shoot... we did managed to make our way to Sekinchan. As expected... paddy fields, as far as the eyes can see. But really really really... lack of toilet facilities.

Photo shoot went on well... with Sofea as the model. She as always able to BRING IT for every photo shoot. This is the best shot I got from that day's outing...

Anyhow... Hope that this work... Adding a short clip of what was done by Jay & Jian @ Sekinchan.

Just as an end note....

All these while that I've been blogging, never expect to have any followers. Not that I am an avid blogger. Just on and off... Not sure if I've mentioned of blogged about this before... But along with weekend rides, my weekends are filled up with Taekwondo - every Saturday morning. It is really nice to be with my students, which I usually refer to as my kids... Shorter name to call them and a more personal and confusing at times to friends..

In August, there was a small tournament that a small few of my kids joined. Well... managed to get a good Silver. But a waste, it should have been a Gold... Motivation...
Already starting to train the potential ones for 2010... At least convert the Silver medals this year, to GOLD ! It is not really as bad... cause the few good ones are listening to me, the worst is when you get those smart-ass kids. Who thinks they are all that damn good... Those... oh well... just let them be...

Guess who's back... I mean either than that I'm back into riding. So far twice liow, both also on road... Cause in my previous trip back to Penang, both 2 pairs for Kenda 1.5inch semi slicks. Supposed Keat also start back riding road, at nite after work. But hasn't happen yet...

On who's back... Kit... The previous owner / mechanic / rider of The Bike Shop in SS15 Subang Jaya. Sifu to CS and Jackson... Well it was an impromptu meet up with him. I was supposed to have lunch with CS and his wifey - Cherry. Then CS called to say that Kit is joining us... It was quite a surprised. Thought that he already gone back oversea...

Anyway.... just our simple lunch session @ TTDI - claypot loh si funn. Talks of our riding days... We then proceeded to play pool. Rusty as I was, still managed to win a few racks.

Now now... I then went home a tad earlier, bout 5pm. Changed... and then started to change them tyres on my Tank bike. This and that... took me quite long to prep the bike ready. But yeah... I managed to get the bike going... And started to ride on them Kenda semi slicks. Was a bit scared on the corners, mana tau got sand ke... sure slip rite. But surprisingly... Not bad wor... Good grip !Tried to go a lil "off-road", not too bad... Gotto give it a try in the sands. I doubt that it will perform well in the mud... or wet trails.

But anyway... I stopped after like 5 or 10 minutes of riding. The air pollutant was bad ! My throat was so damn dry. Also I received a sms... Stopped to read and reply... Important sms from an important person. Which... gives me a chance to capture this...

Then hor... mana tau... My shoe rosak ! Stupid tapak tercabut, open croc mouth !

That kind of ended my short evening ride...

WHICH !!!! THIS MORNING... I woke up at 530am, and went for an early morning ride. Started bout 6+ am till 7am... Even then traffic was quite heavy in Subang, the sending kids to school traffic. I have to respect those roadies, I was bit scared looking at the traffice actually. So I just ride on the residential roads...

So now... the next question is... When will my next ride be ? Wonder how long can I maintain the early morning rides ? Think I should TRY to drag Keat along for morning rides... Like that is gonna be possible la. Oh well.... lets see what happens...

Just another reason why I am still not riding on a Sunday morning...

I'm somehow determined to ride this coming Friday morning, May 1st ! Being a public holiday, there shouldn't be a reason why I can't. Just a short ride in the morning, then head to 1U to shoot Fashion on 1.
Even just a short simple get-to-know-u ride in FRIM also will be satisfied liow...

Hey... I have got my Camelbak zip repaired... Now have to see how the gears run. I think my disc brake pads needs to be changed as well.

Facebook... Who is not on Facebook ? Well I know of 2 person, Keat and CS.. Both of them are not on Facebook. But I'm not here this morning to talk about who's on and who's off Facebook. Or am I to start on the secret plot the Facebook is being monitored by the CIA or whatever secret intelligent organization.. Hey.. Osama might even have a Facebook account and use it to start recruiting "members"...

Still on Facebook, my dear friend, WLM bought himself a new Hardtail... Saw it on Facebook. He is now working in Korea, somewhere near / South of Seoul. A real sweet bike... Considering the parts and the price to it. This was extracted from his Facebook comment,

it was a korean brand 18.5" frame, Black Cat, deore xt groupset, xtr rear derailleur, shimano hydraulic discs, rock shox tora....was for about RM2k...total weight 12+..nearing 13kg

The only thing that needs to be upgraded is a FOX fork... Nothing better than a spring coil. I'm still sticking to my trusty sweet FOX Vanilla ! Cause those air forks are just too hard to tune...

So it is time for me to get my bike back in running condition ! I should start... At least get the tubes in and have a small ride around the housing area. See what else needs to be fixed, tuned or repaired...

TANK Bikes Update

I just did a simple Google search... And to my surprise, I see that Tank Bikes is entering into the UK market ! Then again, I am sure there have been a few Tank MTBs here and there. Cause I remember getting a message on my Flickr, after posting up shots of my Tank frame.

So anyhow... Just wanna share with those that are still visiting this blog... There are a few interesting sites that are worth checking out.

Looks like the official site for the UK market. Just look at the Creamy White Tank Race Elite full bike. But I don't understand why the Magura fork ??? Then again, people may also ask, WHY the Tank bike ?I think... the frame is exported to UK and then parts are added and built by the local distributor. So do check out the site... Cause from the official website in Taiwan... Even the color scheme is different. Anyhow...I really love the color scheme for this.. The RED with the gun-metal grey base color, simply eye catching and stunning ! Even look at the RED handle bar ends... Of course, EASTON tubing frame.

In fact, to those Tank Light hubs users / lovers... There are now 3 range of hubs to choose from. 1 that really caught my eye, is Tank Sup Light. I mean I am not a weight weenie to begin with, but then... Rear = 278g and Front = 154g. Not sure how light that is..

To end this posting... BikeRadar did a review on the Tank Race Elite - UK version. I would like to paste here the 1 and only comment, from another owner.

I decided to purchase the tank after toying between a maxlight XC2 as this seems similar. I previously owned a rockhopper 07 which I love to bits. However I am slowly starting to love how the tank handles over technical sections in comparison to my rockhopper. It also climbs very quickly for a mid range hardtail. The chainstay area is particularly nice with a generous yoke and tyre clearance room. The toptube could do with being a tad longer as the 100mm stem can feel a little tight at times, although this was sorted with a new hope 120mm.

The magura menja 100mm fork is amazing considering what other kit comes with the tank for the price. My rockhopper cost £1100 which has a fox fork that handles no where near as well as the menja, i have been won over by how plush the magura fork is (although it does leak a little).

The bike seems very good value although I was a little disapointed that the price stated on bike radar is different to that of the suppliers website "rolling resistance" I ended paying just short of £1200, although I still consider this great value as the bike came with FSA carbon seat post, bars, saddle & shimano XT cranks. They didn't have the £930 option available which may put some people off, however I wouldn't rule the bike out for the extra £270 as kit choice still represents great value.

Valentine Day Aftermath

Hello all... Still getting some hits on this site. So lets just keep this going... Although this is a joint blog, which started with the few of us Hardtail riders (CS, Jackson, Keat and myself). Since all of us have been doing almost ZERO rides. Guess it'll soon be taken over by me... Actually I have never like blogging. Wonder how there are so many celebrity blogger ! Got so many things to write about meh ? At nite cannot sleep also wanna blog... WAH LAU wei ! Some more can make money by internet advertistment.

Yeah yeah... I know... Jealousy will get me nowhere... WHATEVER ! ! !

This morning on my drive to work, was listening to mix.fm as usual. It is already 2 FULL days after V'day, so they think it is now safe to discuss on the bad side of Valentine's Day. Listeners were calling in telling their good and bad "experience"... Well (apparently) Serena C and Pietro spent their Valentine's Day being SINGLE. So leaving it as that, I managed to listen to 2 callers. Almost 2 extreme ends, 1 good and 1 ugly !

The GOOD

This lady called up... Saying that she had the best Valentine's Day. Woke up to a Breakfast-In-Bed, got up from bed... Only to be surprised with a new shinny anklet, secretly put on by her better half while she was asleep. Then a quiet romantic dinner for two, hand cooked by her guy. And the nite day ended, I would imagine with passionate love making... Only at the end she revealed that they are married.

I think I should ask my married colleague... See what they did for their Valentine's Day. Wonder if any of them guys will reveal their romantic side of them. Then again, why wanna probe into colleagues' personal life rite ???

The UGLY

She called to tell of her traumatic expereince. Things with her (now) ex-bf, went ugly. And he got physical on her, not sexual but the abusive type... She just stayed home and was still scared to go out. Of course not much details were revealed over the airwaves of course. Then again, lately domestic violence have been getting much attention, thanks to the Chris Brown and Rihanna...

How is it that some ladies can stay and stand with an abusive partner ? Like the caller said, she knows that he is going through some stress from work le... Things have happened... This and that, giving him leverage and thinking that things will change ! Sometimes love can make us so damn blind... But I think more of she is just being STUPID ! Got me thinking, cause in Uni time, there was another girl friend with the same problem. Physically abusive boyfriend...

Actually... come to think of it... If you are not in their shoes, we won't know what it feels like. Won't know what to do. Berat mati memandang, berat lagi bahu memikul, pedih lagi hati merana... Bottomline is, I'm totally against all this violence.. What more for myself, who is really a short tempered guy. But I have never (this far) have had the urge or thought of hitting my girl. Pray that I'll not be the beast like those bastards have become..

What a twist of blog... I actually wanna heheehehe... SHOW OFF my new watch..

It has been the longest time that I have been looking for a new watch for myself. Looking at those normal cheaper ones, like GUESS and Fossil or even Seiko. Secretly I think I memang wanted a Swiss Made watch. TISSOT is of course is 1 of the cheaper SWISS watch available in the market.

So... I first saw this watch in Mid Valley actually.. Which actually was picked up by Norraine. Hmmm... I'm thinking now, what were we doing in Mid Valley that nite ? Kind of many things happened during that particular day...

There after... the following weekend, I was at Chili's BSC. From the outside, can see memang the shop is high class... Saw a couple looking at the Bretling display. Oh well, just go in lor... Cause saw got TISSOT there... Also OMEGA, TAG, Mont Blanc, BALL, ORIS... among others.

Went in only.. Was attended by an elder lady, only then realised that the model, TISSOT RACING was not there on display. So she took out the catalogue book, asked me to find.. I pulak no idea what the name of the model that time. Called over to a younger guy, explained to him vaguely. He knew it straight away ! And the best thing was... he was serving a couple looking at BRETLING watches... Wa... small fry like me, looking at TISSOT also he come over. Hehehehe...

Ok lor... Was told to come back on Wednesday, cause that is when they'll be getting new TISSOT stock. As I was walking around moving over to Bretling, he softly told me... "give me 30..." I reached out for the calculator... Keyed in the figures, and he said YES. Wah.. Happiness... Never thought that a high end shop like this gave such good service and good price ! I scout around in other shops, WATA Time especially... Damn the lan si. Never even bother to greet. Just like pretend don't see you walking around in the shop. Memang double standard...

So then... come Valentine's Day... Despite a very rough start, there were some small small issues that we didn't agree on. Became quite a tension between us. Nearing to dinner time, we decided to go back to the shop to have a look. I have been thinking about that watch ever since anyway... Like poison, and the watch was the antidote.

The moment walked in only... The guy recognized me, and straight away told the sales girl, what I came for... A BINGO ! It was there... with my name written all over it. Not literally of course... Well, so that was SET !

At the same time... since we were there and I have not bought her anything for Valentine.. I asked her to picked 1 watch for herself. Seeing the price of TISSOT for ladies are not that expensive. The cheapest was going for RM590, add in with the 30% discount. She took a very very very long time to finally decide on the model that she wanted. So much so... that I had time to go toilet, tummy upset. STUPID prawns from Bubba Gump @ The Curve. Went down to the car, to get my 2 GUESS watches - dropping them in for repairs.

Oh well... She decided... I was ok... Though it was a lil on the high side. But nevermind le... Still can cover. RM970 for another TISSOT PRC100 - woman's chronography watch. Not a bad price for a Swiss Made watch.

The nite... nicely and quietly ended without any drama. We decided to ta pou back fried noodles as our dinner. Initially planned to go Sri Ayuttha, but with the big spending. Don't think it is possible.. Save up as much I guess.
At least... watch is more useful. Tell time... and date. Makes more sense than buying diamonds ? Of course we should only buy diamonds for the right reasons. The right reason for me, has not come yet.

I am happy that I finally got a new watch... Come to think of it, the GUESS watch I have been wearing, has been following for like 10 years now. Hope that it can be repaired, and at an economical price also. If not no point rite ? Better go buy another new one... As for her, she is happy with the new watch. And an expensive one at that... But moeny well spent. Both of us left the shop happily smiling...

Of course can't beat another rich couple who came in to the shop.. Talking all loud but not too rudely. Can tell, these are from the Mile High Club type. Asked the sales girl what watch were they buying, cause I saw the red box... so nice mar. She told it was a OMEGA... Nevermind... was told that they are regulars... Always come and buy watches for friends ! DAMN ! ! ! I also wanna be their friend ! No need much, just 1 OMEGA watch is enough liow...

That is that... And it was a very very memorable Valentine's Day for me. Which I think is my 1st time to actually celebrating Valentine's Day...

TANK rims

2009 ! 2009 ! 2009 ! This will be the year that I start back my weekend rides. Have been neglecting my bike for ages liow, so much so that I can't remember when was the last ride... I know I have bought 2 or 3 extra spare tubes. Had a puncture... and then it was an excuse not to ride.

Need to kill off all excuses not to ride... Looking at the mirror, don't really like what I see. Getting way and above the heavy weight liow, HAPPY weight !

So so... few things that I wanna do to my bike TANK Fobia (if can still remember it is called).

1. Rims... As hell I still want back my RED rims. It is just for the bling bling factor.. Which was why Keat showed me on bbs (www.bicyclebuysell.com), Tank wheelsets for sale. In fact there are two for sale,1 set in white and 1 in red.

I wonder why are there so many TANK products for sale. Is there a sudden demand for it ? I thought that there is a stigma of riders with TAIWAN products ???

Ok... back to the topic of my rims...

Which would look better ? The white rims are really so damn tempting... Both going for the same price of RM480, from a guy in Penang.

The thing is that I need to rebuilt the whole wheelset again. Cause I realised my Tank frame, the rear triangle is not really that "straight". So the rims need to aligned a lil to 1-side, can't remember which le...

2. Need to do some minor tuning to the gears... A lil jumpy...

3. Front disc pads needs replacement, which I have already bought. I wonder if KSH still carry them replacement pads or not. Since these MAGURA Julie are quite old liow... And entry level only. Maybe I need to consider Hayes ???

4. Gotto repair the zip for my Camelbak ! Don't really wanna change my Camelbak... Cause no need le. Spend the cash on rims... hehehehe... =P Too bad le, I am just a sucker for RED color !

I think the RED rims might look best... Since the frame color scheme doesn't have any white..

Oh well... It has been all talk... Actually... the 1st step, I have gotto get the Thule rack back onto my car !

Awana Kijal

My 1st time to Awana Kijal... Had high expectation of this trip, was gonna be my getaway trip. But then mana tau, my mom was tagging along for this. But luckily she was enjoying herself, in her own time.. Without having to nag me...

Well... I was actually there for WLM's wedding. He is having his dinner ceremony in 2 places, here and in Shah Alam. By right Shah Alam is the actual wedding / actual date... Rather than ferrying family members from Kuantan area to KL. Better have another separate wedding dinner in the areas of Kuantan.

The whole event went on smoothly in the morning. Just the simple tea ceremony for the bride's side. Preparation for the nite's dinner was also ok...

The best thing from that nite was the customary table-to-table yum seeeennggg session ! Since I was the weddubg wetness and the best man... Either than having to have spare ticlets, wiping his sweat.. Best part was being scolded y Loke Meng ! I walked him and See Yin back to the room. he steady only, say can still walk straight. No need my help.. Since he was fondling with the hotel room keys, it keeps dropping. So much so that he can really see how to put the key into the keyhole... Went into the room., suddenly he pop his head out and start scolding me... Damn funny...

The next morning all of us were still there. Supposed to wake up for breakfast, but didn't have the mood...

When I finally did get up... Had breakfast, didn't eat much. Was surprised and disgusted by the amount of flies !

I had to go back to Lahad Datu for I think it was a 1 week trip.. The best thing is that, this time around, I brought my DSLR along. Accompanied by the trusty 400D... The shot was taken during my transit time back to KLIA. The usual coffee joint... Have a cuppa before boarding. I was editing that time, and online talking to CS.

It was actually his idea to get this shot... I wanted to get my ass up and shoot the sunset from the window. But then CS gave a better idea. That's how I managed to get the shot...

Hmmm... Let me just include this 1 more shot. This shot was taken at a location in POIC. A major Palm Oil company in Sabah. The whole area is built on reclaimed land... Then again, most of Sabah is built on reclaimed land. Cheaper... and more environmentally friendly.

My Best Friend's Wedding

Wong Loke Meng... or Meng.. or WLM... A dear friend from uni. Think it was the 3rd year or the 4th year.. Can't really remember, just seems like a very long time that we stayed / shared a uni apartment. The 4 bedroom apartment was shared together with Lin Kheng and Jeffrey. This brought the 4 of us closer... Those were the days of CNY steamboat and gambling in the apartment. But that's another long story...

Sadly (or otherwise rather), I was the only one around... Kheng is working in Liverpool, and Jeffrey is doing his PhD. in Japan. So for this, his wedding registration.. I had the honour of being the witness. Hehehehehe... Don't know how much weight does that carry.

Just went there... took photos for him, and sign the paper... Bearing witness to his legal marriage.

Oh well... the wait was quite ok. Since they have already located a time slot. So just have to reach there at the designated time... The whole process is quite fast. Within minutes, a whole new life starts..

Happened to be in Penang, can't really remember for what reason... I think it was just a normal trip back, since my Uncle was there with the whole family. Kind of like a family gathering. Not many chances where we all get to be home in Penang together.. Sadly not even during CNY..

Now now... back to the Mean Machine event... Went there in the afternoon, was shooting under the hot harsh sun ! Don't know why did the organizer made them girls to do their rounds during such times, then again... If not how to attract crowds.

We (Keat and myself) did went back there again at nite... But there wasn't much to shoot. The cars were too ah beng-ish for our liking, sorry... But just the mod were a lil over done. Keat was shooting most of the time at nite...

Oh well... at least we had a taste of what such event was like, in Penang...

The finale to GOSSIP, held in Subang Jaya. The concert event was held at Asia Cafe, SS15, Subang Jaya... Nice small area, closed up to run this small scale concert. Which received much support from our local artist.

Got myself all access pass... thanks to Bernard Hor (the brain behind it all) & Zen...

Can't really remember the names of the local artist... oh well, that's just us Malaysian...
Nama artis artis tempatan pun tak ingat, dari mana pun tak tau. Manakan yg artis International, sampai nama bapak pun kenal.. Hahaahaha... Don't know why that single line in Malay.

This was an event that I covered back in Sept 08. Oh well... after a long absent from blogging. Thank God that this is still alive. Not really too sure if they are anyone still reading wat's happening here...

Anyway.... the main event was GOSSIP, but that's another blog...

This was a side event, Pole Dancing workshop by vivavertical (www.vivavertical.com)

Towards the end... the guys gave their demo. I was shocked... Champion le... then again, they are.. Apparently they won some pole dancing competition. Something like that le... memory not serving me too well. Old liow...

=)

Now now... of course... we can't leave out the girls rite ? We won't wanna be gender biased.. Forget what is written as the title. Nothing wrong with having 1 or 2 eye candy. Bottomline, sex sells...

The aim here... is to show that Pole Dancing is another form of exercise / sport. Not the stigma of it being an erotic dance routine. So if you were thinking of checking out the classes, DON'T bother bringing any small changes...

The moment I reached site, I was greeted by this view.. Some what majestic. Real clear blue skies..

But the 1st thing that came into my mind, is I should have brought my Tank MTB ! ! ! Look at that... so much potential !
There is a nice slopping uphill trail leading up to the peak / plateau, cause got 10 tan lorry ferries soils from up there. Then from there, nicely can find some technical downhill..

Zulhilmi Nadzeri aka Wild Eagle... He is actually an ex student. Used to coach him in his primary school days. Back then, his dad really pushed him into tournaments, loads of exposure. Good spirit and more important full support from the parents.

Now, he is training even internationally.. In countries like Korea and the Middle East. With his big round eyes, quite an instant hit. What more he is rather small sized. But don't let his outlook fool you.

Fast, Accurate... and Lethal ! I really hope that he'll go further in this sport. 1 day I wanna see him in the Olympics..

Yeow Heng & Lois Wedding :: 21.06.08

Well... after all absent from blogging any entry.. It is only appropreate that we have some good news ya. It is alwiz nice to attend your friends wedding.. Especially Lois, who I've known her since Primary 4.. Since was the 1st few friends I know since shifting to Subang Jaya, from Penang.

Our friendship grew closer in secondary school... Us being involved with LEO Club and Prefects, yeah ! I was actually a school prefect... But that's another story altogether. Now... we were sitting beside each other in Form 5. Well, she had to put up with my nonsense... and loud laughter. I also gotto tahan her blurness. And her occasionally singing of "Mary had a little lamb".. Seriously !

So back to her wedding... Yeow Heng, her now husband, was actually our senior in high school. None of us knew bout their secret relationship. Well she was more of the secretive type to begin with too.. Whatever said and done, she is still a very dear friend to me. And I'm really happy that she finally found her eternal love.. Wishing her all the best from the bottom of my heart...

The wedding was a good chance for all of us to friends to meet. It was like a school reunion, since both the bride and groom were from the same school. Not to mention Lois, elder brothers were also from SMK Subang Utama. It was nice... seeing familiar faces. But the greetings are all the same, How are you ? What you doing now ? Same ol same ol...

Look at Tek Mei... She look absolutely gorgeous. A girl looks the prettiest on the 16th birthday. But a lady is at her prettiest when she is pregnant.. how true...

This is simply a priceless shot.. The piece of chicken drumlet actually feel on the floor.. Think Yoke found it on the floor again, brought it up.. I was there at the right time. And the result, PRICELESS...

It was a chance for me to attend a formal function with my dear.. A chance for us to dress up. Look pretty and all. It was towards the end of the nite liow, almost gave on us getting a shot together. Well, thankfully... we managed to get 3 shots. Only 2 was best... But here is the BEST.. Till date the best shot of us. Hey, I bought her that dress.. Isn't she lovely...

Should have blog this long time ago... But been busy with work and gf.. Kept reminding myself to blog this, but keep forgetting. Think I'm getting old liow kut.

This time around, I made sure that I have the camera batteries charged. Hehehehee.... But the race format was changed. No more seeding run. Just 1 practice run in the morning and then 1 race run started at 2pm.

I went there with Keat... Reached there about 2pm.. The race pretty much ended about 4pm or so. Didn't hang around much though.. Coz the weather looked bad.

Can't wait for the next race... more chance to shoot.. Wanna try panning shots !

Here i am, or rather we are, coz i'm here with my girl.. Finally we got a chance to go ride together. Well since Keat is off to Sepang for the F1. Got his bike for Norraine.. Cool huh.. Soon gotto upgrade her to FRIM or possible kiara. Over and out...

I'm actually rather surprised... She managed to handle small steep drops rather well. Fueled with adrenalin rush and her own outdoor spirit. Deep down inside, I'm proud of her.. Managed to achieve it, though it is just a small thing. Just need to built her stamina and some leg muscles.
Hey... considering that my 1st MTB ride... I ended up vomiting half way uphill and cramps on both my legs ! Stamina can be built..

Looks like pretty soon, I might have to look for another bike... hope that it all goes well...

Don't really have much to write about... Coz not very very blur in the office.

It was nice going to the race... Meeting back familiar faces, those that used to ride with. But this time me going there as a photographer. Which this was my 1st official event, using off-shoe flash. Bought myself the el-cheapo China made wireless flash trigger.

Met up with duke there... He was there ealier..

Overall ok lar.. I'm quite happy with the shots I got. Tried my hands and learnt duke's pp style. Which turned out good, won't you agree ?

Can't wait for the next race... This time have to find another more interesting spot to shoot !

Happy Valentine's Day

Quite honestly.. I think that valentine's Day is just over hyped. A very good reason for everyone to over charge, especially those valentine special dinners. Small small portion, which we probably pay the price for the "romantic" deco ? Which probably the nite would end with a quick trip to the mamak for supper.. Of course those luckier ones might get lucky, if u get wat i mean. As for me, I'll be in Penang during valentine day. And my girl in kl.. Thankfullly she also thinks that this day is over hyped. Saves me alot, but will just have to make up for it on other days.. So just in case u need a valentine card, feel free to use the above. Let me know if it works.. Over and out :: Live from Penang..

Though the ride was bit the short distance (in FRIM). But it was good enuff, since I also level up (coz I barfed). Didn't have any wan ton minn that weekend. Was rushing off to get the car serviced, since it rained so much on Saturday ! Yeah, that's Malaysian weather for you !

Memang for the longest time since there was any proper blog from any of us. So how are you guys enjoying the photos that we have been posting ? I wonder if there are anyone still viewing this blog.. Not too sure liow, I used to monitor the hit counter, but now lost track liow. Cause even I myself don't visit this blog as often.. YUP ! Guilty as charged !

Anyhow.. As the title say, this coming weekend is going to be a MUST RIDE WEEKEND, for me at least. Since this coming weekend, got no Taekwondo classes and hopefully I don't have to work (fingers crossed). Last weekend, didn't ride cause I was working outstation.. Another good weekend gone.

So long never ride.. But then (currently) talking to Armijn of Project Maheez, asking him to help me get some RED bling blings for my Tank. Hehehehe... I'm just a sucker for (almost) anything RED. Few things I wanna RED bling ; YETI grip, SALSA QR and seatclamp, rims as well (if the price is right). For the longest time I wanna do a photo shoot of my Tank Fobia. But just now the right time yet.. Not RED enough ! Hahahaha ! ! Woo Hoo ! ! RED Fetish, is me...
Oh.... on top of all the list of wants, I am also looking to replace the Specialized Enduro 2.3 tire. Which is now running in front, the rear was replaced with the Maxxis Highroller 2.3 ! Probably get a new 2.1, for the rear, and then shift the Highroller to the front.

OK OK... back to work liow... Really need to DE-STRESS this weekend !

A very good day to use the polarizing filter. Really see the blue sky and reduce the reflection of the water... The more i shoot, the more i like the kit lense and it wasn't as bad as i think!!

Greetings... I'm still not able to sleep.. Yup it is way pass 2am liow. What to do, after last nite's all night-er in the office. Kind of messed up my sleeping time liow. Have to rush for a tender closing.. So the usual last minute rush.

Which I took the chance to sleep in today till mid-noon ! After lunch, I headed to KLCC with my colleague. Wanna checkout the ELENEX exhibition there... Basically, it is about Electrical Enginneering. All the major players of the Electrical Eng field is there... Except my company, which is a good call. Cause the crowd is just not there.. Unlike Tenaga expo (held biannually).

Anyway... I managed to meet up with old colleagues, both local and from the UK. Walked around alittle... Siemens were the best ! They hired hot looking girls.. Few of them were common to the photographers. If you view those photos I've uploaded on Flickr, you'll see Rose Chin there.. Hope I got her name right.

Of the few shots I managed to get... DAMN ! ! ! Wish I had Tammy with me liow... Very hard to balance and play with the kit lens. The 85mm pulak gives a too tight framing. But that's another story...

This girl, cute as ever, Agatha is her name... Just wanna highlight her out on the blog. So no particular reasons...

Release from the ICU

The day finally came ! Oh yeah... After I think almost 2 weeks of waiting and disappointment, which could not be avoided. But whatever it is... The important thing is that finally Tank Fobia is out of the ICU, Project Maheez Medical Center. Thanks the great hands of Dr. Armijn.

We, as in CS and myself, arrived at Project Maheez late evening. We had a detour and had a quick dinner before making our way to Project Maheez. Together with me, I had the carbon seat post, headset / stem cap and the XTR chain.. These were the few last minute add on parts for my bike. As you know, the XTR chain was left to soaked in the ICE WAX.

When we arrived, I was so glad to see my bike on the working stand.. Shows that work was done. What a sigh of relief when Armijn said that my bike was ready. Which was when I handed over to him the XTR chain... Basically the bike was ready once the new chain was installed and tuned. Here is a close up shot (by CS)...

Oh... That is not all... Don't recall if I told you about my Deore crank. Armijn called before and said that the crank was UN-removable. Barbaric methods had to be used... Well, nothing was documented, but for sure... Here is the outcome...

So when it was my turn to test ride my Tank Fobia... Realised the real tire was touching the frame. Been having this problem from the start liow. Armijn said that it was the spokes length. 1 side shorter than the other, or something like that.. If he would have told me earlier, I would have gotten them spokes replaced as well. Doesn't matter, all in not lost ! Solution... Changed to new tire ! Maxxis High Roller 2.35.. Which surprisingly was a thinner tire compared to my ex-Specialized Enduro 2.3inch. So... With all my problems solved. Only thing left to do was to pay for the service and be on my way. Total damage was RM420nett. Of course, that is not including the other parts bought from the other bike shops. Whatever it is... I got my bike back ! And now in smooth running condition, hope it stays that way...

There after, we were supposed to join those other bloggers at Friendster Cafe. But somehow, we literally back tracked our way out. Instead we headed down and join my high school friends for a gathering.. Nothing like being in the company of people that knows your name... We met at OldTownKopitiam Taipan USJ. Just a sample, more photos can be viewed at our HT's Forum...

I'll be pretty much riding on road, over the weekdays, whenever possible. Have to revive my stamina mar.. If not how to even make it up to Kiara's tarmac cross junction ?

That is all... It is already Monday morning, I'm staying to feel cranky liow. Signs of Monday Blues, for sure !

Really... for real, I made cake last night..

As you might have known by now, I've got a few purchased parts - all yet to be installed. Still nicely hidden from the sun, stored in my cabinet drawer. So finally getting the parts and the bike back together. In fact, at this current moment, my Tank Fobia is en route to Project Maheez. Body guarded by both Keat and CS. Heheheheehe...

Wait... TCSS stories later.. Now back to my XTR cake 1st...

Last night, I finally took out my XTR chain.. Sprayed it heavily with WD40, with the intention of washing away the grease / lube already on the chain. Honestly, not really that effective.. Then hor I kasi wash the fella with KAO Attack ! powder. Washed it double time, still not good enough.. After drying the chain, can still feel the lube still on the chain.
Finally, I used dish washing liquid... Soaked it in the kitchen basin, luckily parents were out watching news on the TV. Mom would shout at me for doing that.. Anyhow, after soaking it awhile then rinsed it. The chain became BLING BLING ! Here... see below...
See how clean the XTR chain is... So once I dried it, using old newspapers and kitchen paper towels. I put the chain into a plastic container. The only thing left to do is to drown it with ICE WAX... I think I must have squeezed almost half a bottle of the ICE WAX, at least quarter of the new bottle went into soaking the XTR chain.
Actually I think it looks more like custard, rather than cake.. But definitely not something appetizing. Gonna leave it so soak till Saturday afternoon.. Then, wipe off the excessive ICE WAX, give it a nice rinse. DONE ! ! ! I think so... Have to ask CS and see if correct or not. After all he is the one that taught me these steps...

Now, back to some TCSS stories.. Was on the phone with Armijn, got to know that he might be going down to Singapore tomorrow for a day trip. Or rather a shopping trip to me, grab bike parts. Heheheehehe... Apa lagi, I pun kasi pesan sama dia.. Tolong angkat 1 set RED mavic rims, itupun kalu dia ada jumpa itu barang. Oh oh... Ade jugak kirim dia beli itu Salsa RED hubs QR.

So hopefully, by Saturday evening.. I'll have my bike all ready, with all the upgraded parts. Plus hopefully some more added new parts from Singapore ! Gonna collect my bike, just before going for the Malaysia Blogger's Day @ Friendster Cafe...

Food ! Glorious Food !

This blog has gone from mountain biking stuffs... to Photography... there was even a blog on a bomb scare, now... Gonna put up a blog on FOOD ! Why food ? Probably today was quite a mood swing day for me. One of those day that no matter how hard you try to concentrate on work, but then nothing is going your way, and nothing really gets done ! Something when things go so wrong, you can always take comfort in food. Just have something nice.. indulge in something sinful, I'm still talking about food here. How about this for a sinful indulgence...

So what do you think ? Isn't just sinful ? Dah lar ice cream, got melted chocolate dipping some more. Of course there are other side items to go with it ler. Checkout the fruits on the side of the platter.. Give me this over sex, for sure it'll cheer up a ANY bad day...

Today I was supposed to be together with my Tammy... But I guess was a tad too late to make my decision. Or rather I shouldn't have waited. Since I've decided to go for this Saturday nite's event (Malaysia Blogger's Day ! @ Friendster Cafe), wanted to get my Tammy and bring her along. in fact I've been emailing shashinki.com for Tammy's availability since yesterday morning. This morning called Key Color Mid Valley, said that Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens was still available. Thought wanna wait for CS confirmation with KC Subang Parade 1st, mana tau ke.. can get slightly cheaper price. But alas... decided to get from KC MV, called them to book the unit, only to received bad news of it (just) being SOLD !
Took it as a sign... It is not our time to be together yet. Tammy would have to wait.. I'm sure she'll understand...

Today was supposed to pass my whole bike + all the other upgrade parts to Armijn, Project Maheez. Was thinking of lugging the bike into my car boot, but then since Keat said he can help me drop it in the afternoon. Then ok lor, at least I don't have to rush after work. But sadly, Keat went there around 2ish pm.. The LBS was closed. Sigh.. wasted trip.. Though the time was predetermined before, I guess Armijn might have been caught up with his day job (?)..
GOD knows WHEN WILL MY BIKE WILL EVER BE READY FOR RIDE again ?! From previous phone conversation, the Tank Lights hubs were supposed to be in by today. Anyhow, my RED Mavic 317 is there, so he can start building the rear wheel 1st. He did say that Tank Fobia would be ride-ready by Saturday night.. Another day goes by, might just be another weekend without ride...

Think enough about today liow... Decided to leave office on time, since whole day also not very productive. Hopefully boss don't read this.. It is just 1 of those days ya boss..

Oh Oh !! Yesterday night, finally went to watch Transformers ! But before that, 3 of us had dinner @ SOHO 1Utama.. The food there is good, to me it tastes rather authentic. But who am I to judge, I'm Chinese but can't speak Mandarin well. Anyhow despite the bill came to close RM100nett. The food was GOOD.. Especially the Aromatic Crispy Duck..
There is actually half a duck there.. Doesn't quite look like it rite, but it came served intact. The waiter ripped it and shredded the meat for us. Even the bones were good and crispy.. Worth a try and also for the ambiance...
Oh... now back to the TRANSFORMER movie... It was really really really good and worth all the wait. The action in the movie was superb ! The whole movie, you'll be like left breathless. I was really on the edge of my seat, anticipating what the next scene is gonna be like. If only I don't have to blink throughout the movie.. But nothing is perfect, IMHO they have overdid with the ROBOTS, too much damn details. Seeing the screws and nuts or bolts.. Kind of takes away the originality of the actual character / robots. Would be nice if they used back the cartoon's theme song.. And more of the phrases used... Oh well... Not possible to please everyone mar...

It was a long long long time i haven't post anything here since i injured my backbone few months back. Now i'm back but yet ready to get back on my bike yet. When will it be? Not sure. Hopefully soon.

From Mountain Biking, HT'er had a slightly changes. These days, you can just NK posting some non-bike related topic. After all, this is a blog for HT'ers. Nothing specified!! We will try to include as many things as possible but try to make it majority bike related.

Another weekend has just passed... And it was another weekend of NO RIDE for me. I really thought that this weekend, I'll be able to fit in a ride. But sadly, my rear wheel was not ready... Project Maheez was sent with the wrong hubs, 36 holes - instead of 32 holes. But it was good that Armijn loaned me a spare rear wheel. Which SADLY, didn't quite aligned to my bike.. It was seriously out of alignment, the disc is touching the pad, even the tire is rubbing against the frame. How to ride rite ???

What to do... wait for another week lor. I hope that by middle of next week, I'll be able to get my wheel ready. I think at the same time, I'll bring all my new parts to be installed. Quite a list of new parts... Then from there, once everything is ON. Hopefully the bike will NOT give me further problems.

Probably then I should consider a new frame.. No No NO ! A full new bike ! I wonder then, would it be a full sus mountain bike ? Or I'll probably switch to a Road Bike... We'll see what happens then. Hopefully and I pray that nothing will go wrong liow...

Sigh... This is what I should be feeling now.. Till now, saya punye Tank Fobia belum lagi masuk ICU. Itu Doctor macam tak la senang mau layan gua.. Sigh...

Anyhow also... Even if I get my bike repaired, the following few weekends, I'll be held up with Taekwondo classes. Can't neglect my kids as well, since they have got their grading coming up in August.

I think I better set a deadline for me to get the bike repaired. If not it will continue to sit in the store room and collect dust. Got the new parts also haven't fixed yet... Macam orang Cina cakap, boleh tengok, tak boleh makan..

This happened on 1 of those nights, that you just refused to stay at home.. No matter how tired you are or what not.. Something is just telling you to GET OUT OF THE HOUSE !

Well that was what happened that night... From office already I knew, I wanted to be out that night. Just didn't feel like staying at home.. Probably cause been in the office all day, sitting down trapped within the 4 walls. Needed to BREAK FREE type of feeling...

Called CS... Ajak him along, wanted to have coffee anyhow and a place to do work. At least in a more open area, nice cold blended coffee AND free to smoke... Decided to bring our DSLR along...

Well... I managed to get some work done, as well as a few shots. Sadly, there weren't much people for us to snap candid. No interesting subject...

Funding for a COVERT ops...

Really... It has been a long while since there has been any ride posting on this blog. Mainly since we haven't been riding, at all.. Major is down with back bone injury, myself - Tank Fobia is in coma, in the process of getting it fixed. Tweeter pulak have been busy over the weekends, photo shoots and what not. So just left Red Dragon to ride lor.. And he have been riding, Kiara mostly..

So finally, last Saturday evening, finally I made my way to Project Maheez. Went there after a short shooting session with CS in 1Utama, but that is another story.. It was nice going to Project Maheez, when we reached it was just Armijn there alone. He was working on removing the front wheel of his (soon-to-be-sold) Ironhorse Sunday. Cause the RS BOXXER was sold to a guy from Penang, didn't get his name. It was the usual talk cog, or more like gossiping session to me.

I have asked for my hubs.. It was between a RED anodized Ringle hubs or go back to Tank Lights, which I have no problem with both. But there is a price different of about RM200, which is gonna be worth it - for the RED coloured hubs. Of course it would depends on whether Armijn can source for it or not. Thankfully he can get Tank Lights hubs, from Penang, and fast delivery also - 1 day delivery. But the LX crank might be more difficult to get, as now, the supplier / distributor don't sell Shimano grouppo seperately. Hopefully Armijn can use his contacts over in Singapore...

Was suppose to drop my bike to Project Maheez yesterday evening. But then I was down with fever and bad sore throat. Forced me to be in bed the whole day, slept most of the day and night. So just sms Armijn, told him to go ahead with the order of them parts - LX crank & Tank Lights hubs (rear only if possible). Keep the RED anodized Ringle hubs for (maybe) the new Transition COVERT...

Oh yes... It is true... I'm thinking of going full sus ! Don't know why... Initially wanted to get the DirtBag, but then the 4-bar linkage looks bit too complicated. Major did warned me about the linkage bearing, have to take good care of it. Which is 1 setback of using full sus...

Now back to the COVERT operation.. Don't know why but I would really wanna give full sus a try, then again.. To sell off my Tank Fobia, bit the sayang also. Sigh... COVERT frame + DHX coil would cost me somewhere around RM4000++, not including the other parts yet. Or was that the price for a full bike ? Can't really recall.. Still the figures are scary !

This project, or operation would really need detailed and long term planning... Not really easy forking out that much cash. And hor, got other things on my Wishlist as well leh. Don't forget, I've got the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens that I've been eyeing for so long. Even if I'm getting the COVERT, it would be at the beginning of next year.. After bonus is out. OR unless I can convince Tweeter to sell off the Montana, then I pass the Tank over to him. Using whatever cash, I top up the balance for a COVERT, which at the end of it still gotto fork out a large sum of cash. Oh well... like I said, it requires detailed and long term planning.. Seems like after (almost) fully upgrade the Tank, I'm selling it off...

Guess the next posting from me... Might just be about a new frame, OR another ride's blog...

What a stroke of bad luck ! Quite honestly, I don't know how or where to start...

I think must have all started with the damaged RED Mavic 317 (front) rim. I remember that it was the 1st time riding FRIM Dream Trail, it was such a good trail and fully enjoy ! What a stupid fall, which my cost 1 of my dearest bike part. Sigh.... No need for me to repeat the whole story again rite, hopefully you guys have read it in my previous posting.

Then followed by the Hanger Banger incident, YUP ! Happened in FRIM also, it was towards the end of the ride.. The 501 trail in FRIM. Stupid stupid stupid stupid dried branches.. Please take my advice, stay away from them. Don't think that you can simply ride through them. They are dangerous ! Cost me a good ride and my hanger !

Now the latest incident...

As you have read from the previous blog... My drive train now is like a freewheel ! You know, I'm pedalling, but the wheel is NOT moving. What to do, have to sent it to the LBS lor. Was hoping to get Armijn to have a look at it.. So yesterday, I managed to get off work slightly earlier. Tried calling Armijn but no answer, no answer from the shop as well.. Doesn't matter, pack in the bike and picked up CS. Half way on the NKVE, Armijn sms.. Said that he just got out of the hospital, had high fever for the pass 4 days. So no point of going to Project Maheez then.. Hope that you have already recovered Armijn...

So headed our way to BikePro.. Been a long while liow, never go look for Boon Foo. Wonder what new stock has he got. The last time I was there, hmmmm... when I was looking for my hanger ! But instead got myself a new XTR chain & PG990 (which he still have stock at a very low price). So while both Lim had a look at the problem, me and CS went to whack some food ! Kesian him ler, belum makan mar.. And for that, he had a wan than minn (with char siew + chicken feet mushroom) and another bowl of Asam Laksa. Which I must say, the laksa is actually quite the good, cause I had a bowl myself.

Now back at BikePro. I'm greeted with bad news... Was told that my rear hub is the problem, not the crank (which I was hoping it to be - so can upgrade mar). Basically the hub is FUBAR = Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition.. Boon Foo intro to me some DT Swiss hubs, both of them didn't interest me at all. Then was already looking at HOPE XC hubs liow, what to do, NO CHOICE liow mar... If not don't know how long will I be out from ride. Sadly, money was not the issue. COLOUR ! Only available was blue.. Sigh... If black also not that bad. BUT then if there was a RED hub, hmmph ! No need to think twice, BUY !

Sadly... I pushed out my bike, with my spirit dampen and sadden by the chain of events. What to do, just my luck lor.. I wonder if I need to bath my Tank with flower water, to wash away the bad luck. Seems like every time I enjoy any ride, something sure go wrong ! Next time, once I start to enjoy any ride, must make sure that I suppress the feeling inside. Better not jinx the ride...

What's left for me to do ? Hopefully come Saturday, Armijn will be well enough to open the LBS. And will see what he can do about my hub, if not will have to source for another set of hubs. RED colour of course... Would I want it any other way ?

Hello hello...

WOW ! Memang damn long never go for ride liow. Which we (Keat, Jackson and myself) decided to ride in Kiara. As you can see above, that is the recorded Max Speed for that day's ride. It was done coming down the tarmac of Kiara.

Not to worry, there were little "walkers" at that time.. And I wasn't jamming my brakes, to skid my tyres. Was going down fast BUT safely as well. For sure !

Now... Back to the ride's blog. And you must be wondering what does Double D here means.. It was a Dissappointing and Dejected weekend ride for me.

Half way going up to Tokong... Suddenly felt something funny, I was pedalling, but then I'm not moving ! Looked down and then, memang... tiuuu lor ! Drive train got problem. Legs are pedalling, crank is moving, but the rear tyres are NOT ! Sigh.... What an heartache ! Was so semangat to ride.. What more that Sunday, those Kajang guys was there.

So end up how ? Pushed all the way upto Tokong there lor. And damn manyak nyamuk ! Long time never go feed them, must have missed me liow.. So just lepak there, TCSS more... See more riders making their way up and beyond Tokong. Me can't go liow.. Coz drive train kaput-ed..

Oh well... what is left is to bomb back downhill and enjoy whatz left of the ride ! So knowing that this was gonna be out liow, I really just bomb down ! Nice... Just using momentum to bring me all the way down. No pedalling, can't pedal also ler..

When into Shriner... Cleared all the sections.. Except for some places, where I need to push my bike, coz got no more momentum.

Exitted liow, didn't go down to Carnival.. Coz it would mean a longer push for me. From there... zoom zoom down the tarmac.
Wonder why that Sunday, memang damn semangat wanna ride. Couldn't believe that it was the end liow. If only I could go for Round 2.

Nmind... gotto get my bike fixed, in time for next Sunday's ride !

It was my 1st outing with the 85mm f1.8 lens, a totally new experience for me. Not really used to this focal length, though everyone said that it is good for portrait shots. I think I need to work on my lighting skills next.. Then I'll be able to master better nite portrait shots..

Jungle trekking at Dusun Eco Resort

Since taking up MTBiking, never have I thought that I'll be entering jungle or forest without my bike... But last weekend, joining my kids at their camp, I never knew walking through trails could be so much fun !

It was so long ago since my previous nite walk through the jungle / forest.. Probably during the times when I was in Scout (form 2). We had a 2 hours nite walk.. Divided into 4 groups, each leader had only 1 candle. Helping the kids move along, I ended up being at the tail end of the whole group..

The next day, we were treated with a 3 hours jungle trekking.. At the starting, I felt so regret that I didn't brought my bike along ! The trails there are really nicely hard packed soil, rutted and roots... Long steady steep descent ! But of course you'll have to endure the long hard pedal / push uphill.. But the trails we went through are not all meant for MTBs. Some parts we even had problems climbing / walking down. Had to use the assistant of a rope to safely move down. Really have to get down and dirty, at some point...

Anyhow we were treated with the nice cool waterfall ! After 2 hours of hiking.. The cold cool waters was somewhat refreshing..

I wouldn't mind trading my bike for hiking boots, just for 1 weekend - only ! Tomorrow is gonna be riding Sunday, after a very long break for few of us here. So don't really know what to expect from the ride.. Stay tuned to find out in our next blog...

April's FOOL

Hello all... Been really really held up at work. Got too many things to be done, and plus with the recent emotional turmoil. I haven't had the time to actually blog..

This is the story of our April's Fool RIDE... Where we discovered a "new" trail...

So that Sunday morning started as usual.. At CS' house, I already realised the dark clouds approaching, and it doesn't look promising. But thought that at least we can squeeze in a short ride in FRIM..

Still persist on going, though we were contemplating of canceling the ride. I was already suggesting to go Sri Petaling for dim sum instead. Which we should have headed to ! Cause upon reaching 1U, here is what the sky looked like...

So enough about them clouds... There were other barrier that was determined to keep us away from our morning ride. Right at the famous MRR2 bridge, which was the start of what is to be a massive traffic jam. Somehow we forgot the fact that it was Qing Ming weekend ! The whole traffic jam was caused of this reason.. The 1st traffic light below the MRR2 bridge, turned into a messed up parking lot !

Don't know how long we were stucked there, stationary.. Didn't keep track of the time. BUT it was long enough for me and CS to get out of the car.. Walked our way till we could see the cause of the jam, and made our way back to the car. Then immediately we made the decision to turn back, cancel the ride plan.. And look for breakfast ! But while trapped in the car, we were able to amuse ourselves with silly silly billy jokes..

We decided to head back to Subang Jaya, it started to rain not too long later..

And our target for that day was to have dim sum for breakfast ! Back all the way to where we started, dim sum breakfast @ Hong Lim restaurant in SS15 Subang Jaya..

That Sunday, we discovered a new trail... This is what we call, "Dim Sum Trail" ! Didn't ride that morning, but the dim sum was satisfying and the good sleep that came after... Oh.. Did I also mentioned that our bikes were just soaking under the rain...
